Former athletes imparted words of wisdom to attending athletes and gave them goals to strive for. Athletes got to see the great athletic accomplishments of former athletes at the high school, collegiate, and sometimes, professional levels. Athletes, until this year, were honored at the end of the year athletic banquet in front of the student body to make the student body more aware of the athletic traditions of Clarkstown North High School and the outstanding abilities of the athletes who preceded them. In 1994 the 1 st class of inductees was selected choosing one athlete from the 1940’s, 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. In his honor, it was deemed appropriate to form the Clarkstown North Hall of Fame to honor the most outstanding student-athletes for their accomplishments at Clarkstown North High School as well as athletes from Congers High School and Clarkstown High School antecedents of North. He was “Ivy-League” educated, being an alumnus of Columbia as well as a member of the Columbia Lions baseball team. Danny, a 1987, graduate, happened to be “homecoming king” and senior class president and the embodiment of the “All-American” boy. The impetus for the introduction of the Clarkstown North Hall of Fame was the untimely death of Danny Casey a former three-sport athlete, who was an “All-Section” performer in football, basketball, and baseball, beginning with his sophomore year.
